Betty Tang


Betty grew up in Vancouver, Canada, where she grew interested in wellness and sustainability. Her experience spans strategy, human capital, and digital transformation as a consultant at McKinsey and Kearney advising leaders across industries including consumer goods, agriculture, and tech.

She is a Yale School of Management MBA candidate specialized in Management Science and holds a BCom in Accounting & Sustainability from the University of British Columbia, and Certificate in Plant-Based Nutrition from Cornell’s T. Colin Campbell Center for Nutrition Studies. She is also a certified yoga instructor.

Thu Ra was born in Burma and brings a passion for sustainability as well as deep supply chain and manufacturing expertise. He has led manufacturing facilities at leading consumer packaged goods companies including Quaker Oats, PepsiCo, and L’Oreal. He has also successfully launched a logistics startup, Cure Logistics, that continues to grow.

He holds an MBA from the Yale School of Management, BA in Business & Economics and Psychology from Cornell College, and Masters in Operations Research & Supply Chain from Case Western Reserve University.


Rachel Smith

Rachel is from Wisconsin where she attended the University of Wisconsin Eau Claire. Her career began at Epic as a quality assurance specialist and project manager. With Epic, Rachel traveled the US and lived in the Netherlands and Finland, helping oncology professionals make decisions about their software workflows and go-live with intelligent and useful data systems.

In 2017, Rachel became aware of the serious environmental impacts of the food choices she was making and wanted to do better. It began with eliminating animal products from her diet and now encompasses many aspects of her life, which led her to Upright!


Peter Ormsby

Peter is a Virginian with a passion for new products and ventures that have a positive impact on the world. In five years with Deloitte Consulting, he worked across sectors primarily within the Sustainability and M&A Practices. Since, he has worked with several early stage startups on fundraising strategy and new product launches.

He is a Yale School of Management MBA Candidate, with a focus on entrepreneurship and impact investing. He holds a B.S. in Commerce from the University Virginia and is a loyal Wahoo!


Jordan Weitz

Jordan is a Marylander with a passion for the better-for-you, food & beverage CPG space. In his free time, Jordan enjoys wandering the aisles of independent bodegas in search of new products that fit into his gluten-free (Celiac!) diet. Jordan has worked for Wildcat Capital, the family office of David Bonderman, where he focused on Consumer & Retail opportunities, providing a deep understanding of consumer operational models and revenue drivers.

Jordan holds a B.A. in Economics from Yale University and has supplemented his studies with a multitude of courses at the Yale School of Management.
